After reports that an Ex ISI official and retired lieutenant general of the Pakistan army admitted that alleged Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav was apprehended from Iran, he has rubbished the reports, adding that he never made such a statement.

The retired army officer Amjad Shoaib denies having any connection with the ISI and said that his version of the statement was tampered, and claimed that what is being portrayed is false.

“I have no connection with ISI, I have never even seen the ISI office from inside. From the outside, everyone has seen ISI so have I. This is my eighteenth year post retirement and I have no official backing to dig out the information from the government about their operations,” he said.

Clarifying the questions he was asked, for which his answer was misinterpreted, he narrated: “So the question here was that in Saudi Arabia the coalition and other talks that we have initiated, that might disrupt
our relations with Iran.”

“So on that question I gave the answer that in 2002 Iran had a defence pact with India. Iran gave Chabahar to India. And now India is making a port over there, but we never said anything. The person Kulbhushan who used to operate from here, we only held him, but never created a huge ruckus about it,” he added.
