Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra has said on Saturday that success is a joint enterprise between the people and the government, and expressed confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Mahindra said that India is at an audacious moment in history, and expressed belief that India would succeed, and that the success would be a joint enterprise, and not the task of the government alone.

Mahindra, who had been speaking at the annual general meeting of the company late of Friday, welcomed the decision of the government to raise foreign direct investment (FDI) in defence sector.

He added that the recent announcement of 49 percent FDI in defence would enable India to access global partners who would complement the nation’s strengths, and also bring in new technologies.

He said that though India entered defence sector many years ago, there had been no satisfactory progress.

He said, however, that he was optimistic that the government seemed positive to private sector, adding that Mahindra was very ambitious about aerospace since a small turbo had been developed by it. He also said that a manufacturing plant had been set up in Bangalore, and that it was making good progress.

Earlier this week, chairman emeritus of Tata Sons Ratan Tata had praised Narendra Modi, and had said that the new government should be given more time to turn around the economy.

Tata had also said that Modi has a track record of being a doer, and what he did in Gujarat was there for everyone to see.
